Do the back of the lugs look to be soldered back together?
No. Look at the shape of the endlink tabs compared to the shape on the back of the lug.

The Speedmaster was not presented/cleaned up for sale, so what you are seeing is a build up of someone’s DNA 🤮

Looks like an honest watch to me. Probably produced in the second half of the 80s and comes with the coveted (and valuable) 1450 / 808 bracelet. Definitely worth its current price and a bit more too.

A clean-up and a polish of the plexi will work miracles.

Should you be a little too uncertain to proceed on this one, there is a similar but better maintained example available FS in the Private Watch Sales here on OF...

Thanks all for the comments. It seemed a good deal. I did get a bit concerned when the seller was trying to flog a fake bezel replacement as a NOS.

I’d be a bit wary about this watch. The seller’s story (timeline or owning, service, etc) doesn’t fully stack up to me. Also, whoever serviced the watch didn’t fit the bezel correctly - clearly the 60 does not align with 12 o’clock. You could take a chance if the price was right and it has a nice bracelet but there’s been no interest to date.

If I’d be in the US, I’d certainly buy it at this price. Bargain!

… and that’s clearly what someone else thought too. Sold.
