Hi Forum

i am close to pull the trigger on a ST69 pre-moon , all tritium , sellers says unpolished ( middle case) , case back yes in the edges because engraving is nice , original DON provided , 1039/516 etc….

just to be shure I am not wrong , price is set to 5K
Thanks for your comments on it
Paul

You can nitpick it all day long but with the 1039/516 the head is between $3000-$3500 which is in range IMO for a wearable -69. It wont impress a collector, its not a screaming bargain, but if you want a piece you can wear with little fear this might do the trick.

Pictures are pretty poor but from what I can see the case is not unpolished.

Are you talking £/€/$??

I'll pile on that the case looks like it's had some (minor) polishing done to it. The dial looks nice (I personally like the greenish-hued tritium lume), as do the hands. It's a bit hard to tell from the pics, and I might be reaching a bit to say the subdial hands are a bit brighter white?

I think the question is: do you like the watch?

I agree that the combo is appealing, it's nice to have an OEM bracelet as part of the deal. Understand your nervousness with vintage Speedies -- there are a lot pitfalls. It's a matter of ruling out as much of the questionable stuff as possible. At least this one still has its original bezel. It looks like it has been loved, worn, serviced. Speaking of which, did you get a picture of the movement, just to make sure the serial number is appropriate, and that the casebook is original 145.022-69 and not a service part?

EOA is a cherry on top. Like I said before I think it is a fair price for a wearable vintage piece. No safe queen but heck you could sell the bracelet, end links and bezel and get close to $3k of your money back. If you just break it to parts value I think you're still good on this one.

Go get that Speedy, now !

By the way, the spare DON looks fake to me...

Assuming that the movement is ok and consistent with the rest of the watch, I think it's a good deal. It would be helpful if you could show movement and inside caseback photos, or at least give the first few numbers of the serial.

Is the bracelet a 1039 or a 1035? Because it looks narrow on your pictures...

I'm not an expert on flatlinks, but as others pointed out, maybe the final links are missing which can't be replaced without a donor

No at the end is a mash up.

516 end-links
1039 clasp
And 7077 body 4 double extension links

works fine
