Hey there,
Not sure if this is the right place to ask, I’m new here!
A speedy has been my dream watch for a while now, and I graduate in February.
I was hoping to try and find one within my budget, and have found the above professional which I am ready to pull the trigger on.
Only issue is I can’t view in person as it’s on the other side of the country.
Please let me know if this looks real or not!!
Many thanks!
John

That’s not a 3570 it’s the display back model whose PIC I can’t currently recall but is similar. 3573.50 maybe? It could also be the one with the Hesalite glass and sapphire back that sold briefly a few years back. The seller suggests it’s a 3572 which is the latter option. Nice watch. Looks legit. Use common sense though with a platform like that.

Apologies! - Thanks for the reply!
I did mean to put 3572.50 in the Title but have misprinted.

Is there something that I could ask for from the seller that may help authenticate it for me?

He has already confirmed he bought it off someone else, and there was no service history.

I think you can be confident that the watch in the pictures is genuine and seems to have not been messed about but what would worry me is if it actually is in the sellers possession and will he actually send it. Is there any buyer protection with Gumtree? If not I'd be nervous to do anything other than a face to face purchase there.

You might want to enquire if the mark on the crystal at around 93 on the tachy scale is just dirt or a chip in the crystal. A new crystal isn't mega bucks but it would be shame if it were damaged. It might be nothing.

Buying a watch like this on Gumtree, especially when the seller is almost on the other side of the planet, is risk taking in the extreme.

The seller may be perfectly legitimate, but without any escrow system, or even "eBay protection" in place, you're gambling.

One thing you could ask for as an extra precaution is a close up of the serial number on the movement and a pic of the card to make sure it matches. I suspect there is nothing there to worry about but if he provides the shots at least you know he actually has the watch and isnt reusing someone else's pictures.

Both seller and buyer are in Aus so hardly the other side of the planet but your point is valid all the same as its a big place, or so I'm reliably informed!

Sydney to Perth is about 3000+ kilometres (2000 miles), and due to the isolation of Western Australia from the Eastern states, it may as well be.

The OP may have a chance if they can have a local (WA) family/mate do the dealing.

I would prefer to do a face to face purchase, but him being in Perth, and me in Melbourne makes it a bit hard.

I recommended we do the sale through PayPal Goods & Services, which will allow me to claim the money back if he does defraud me.

I would be heading straight to an Omega Boutique or expert to authenticate the watch when (or if) it came.

He was also preparing to send a copy of the serial number and warranty card so I can cross reference them, and is willing to send a copy of his drivers licence for some extra peace of mind.

Here are the photos he’s provided, including one of where it looked like there may have been a scratch on the crystal.

Watch Number on the warranty and Watch seem to line up - anything else I should look for??

Looks good to me, and the mark on the crystal must have just been a hair or similar. It is a nice reference that one and not commonly seen. You get the warmth of the Hesalite crystal on the front but still have a great view of the engine room so its win win.

Anyone else see anything amiss? I don't.

Take Jim's warning about the inherent risks with Gumtree seriously though. The seller may well be a straight up guy and if he's providing ID thats a good sign but take care all the same.

I double checked the serial number on the Omega Extranet and everything checks out - looks like a good one.

Serial number: 77077871
