Hello everyone,

I have 2 speedmasters 3590.90 and I would like to let one go. Problem is that I like both of them and I do not know which one to keep.

Both are long S/R with a different S if I am not mistaken. The insert is different as well.

Last pictures show the difference in terms of polishing. The one with the bracelet on is the one from 1991.

Any advice would really help. I can take more pictures if needed.

Thank you

This one is from July 3rd 1991, sold in Dubai. Historic unknown.

This one is from July 1990. Historic unknown.

Here is the comparison

I do not want to sell on the forum, I just want to know the opinion of the members willing to help me to decide.

Yes, you are right, next time I will just lie saying that I will give one to my nephew but I do not know which one to choose. If you have an issue you are more than welcome to PM me.

Keep both. Sell none. Different cases and bezels. Both look great.

Thank you. Are the cases meant to be different from the factory or is one more polished than the other? I am still not sure why are the dials and inserts different on watches one year apart from each other.

Whilst I would need better pics, I’m not seeing polished cases. Also, I’m no expert at the nuances of this reference…however difference in thickness of the brushed sides (and how the one case has wider lug tips as a result) is likely due to different cases/manufacturers. If one case was polished and the other not, I’d expect to see soft ridges on the tops of the lugs. I’m not. Both look good to me. There are similar differences in the 60s too. If you compare the current moonwatch case to the outgoing one, also similar differences. Got inside caseback shots?

I also wonder why is there such a gap between the lugs and the end links on the 1990 one, the case looks in pretty good condition but this bugs me because I cannot explain it.

I do not have the tool to open the case back, but here is one from the 1990 one that I already had.

I’m guessing the later one will have different manufacturer stamp in the caseback. Why is there a gap? Because you are a pedant 😀
