    Hello,

    I'm in the market for a 321 Ref 145.012 (... as are a lot of other folks here I'm sure ; )

I've done a bunch of research / homework and have found what I believe to be a nice piece at a reasonable (in today's crazy market) price.

However, it is not local to me and is in fact in ... Peru . In doing my homework I came across some "beware of Speedmasters from Peru" posts on this forum ... https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-speedmaster-cal-321.43239/
I also know about "buying the seller" ... and unfortunately this seller does not have a lot of references. So, a couple of red flags for sure

Still, it looks legit and in good shape to me -- DON bezel, 1039 bracelet with 516 endlinks, case back stamped 145012 - 67, correct 321 movement. Appears to have been polished tho...

These aren't cheap any more so can't be too careful. Pics are attached. Would appreciate any / all thoughts on the legitimacy / correctness and originality, Many thanks

Let's say the kind folks here come back and respond that the watch is perfect. If so, would you still risk your $ and buy it from non-reputable seller in Peru that you mentioned? I'll say walk away from it...I know it's very tempting though.

I'll let the experts weigh in on the actual watch but I will say if you have red flags then just avoid. Why take the risk?

Lots of threads on here about the Speedmaster scammers from Peru. Probably stolen pictures and they don't have the watch. I would keep looking.

How do you know the serial number matches a '68? I can't read it on the movement picture and just because he says it's 26xxx, doesn't mean it is. And is there a picture of the case back? As the rest of the watch has had the life polished out of it, I would like to see if there is anything left of the horsey on the case back. The lume on the dial looks awfully new and certainly does not match the lime on the chrono hand. And the seller is unknown and from a suspect area of the world.

Run away. This is not worth the risk.

I can post a pic of the Statue of Liberty and say that I am selling it. That doesn't mean that I am really selling it. Only buy from verifiable sellers.

Saw this for $4,800 on chronocentric.

    Major red flag.

I had viewed this watch there as well. Very good price for a 321, DON and a 1039 to boot.
Ask for plenty of scans of the watch with a picture of it against the ad from Chronotrader on a laptop and be sure to use PayPal.
You may do well out of it

The pushers are different sizes, the dial has been 'washed', removing the old lume, case is polished etc, but none of this is an issue as you're unlikely to ever have the watch in your hand.

If this is the guy on chronocentric, he just told me he is in Germany.

So it seems he is a wizard bouncing between Peru and Germany.

Easy method to see if he actually got the watch?
State three different times of day and ask for clear pictures of the watch showing exactly these.

But again, Peru..... Sounds shady at best....

    Cheers.

Yes. It was on Chronotrader. Too many red flags so I moved on

Before I did.. I suggested to the seller that he could send it to me C.O.D ; )
