It looks like a later 2915 dial, basically.

As such, it might be matching for an early 2998.

I've never seen "FAB SUISSE" on one of these dials and it doesn't make sense to me.

Since this turned out to be an interesting thread behind the scenes, I tell my opinion that the dial has been manipulated.

I am curious what the real experts think.

I started a post on an early ca. 1935 UG Compur Chrono in the UG Sub Forum about two years ago which has an Fab. Suisse dial. I was informed by the experts (esp. @LouS) that this would be original in case the caseback inside and movement also signed Fab. Suisse (which was in my case). So IMHO this should be proof here also. Are there any more informations available ? 👍

Surely they sold more than 1 29XX in France in those days?
Maybe, like the Ultraman, once word gets out, many more real ones will come to the market.

It is a mystery why so few dials are marked Fab. Suisse. I don't think anyone will be able to answer this question. I don't doubt the authenticity of this dial though.

I can see 15-20% of the font. So I'm not even sure it is "FAB SUISSE", I only think it is most likely.

Normally one can see the "SWISS MADE" to about 50%.

In fact the spacing of the font to the minute track is larger than usual and the area around it looks a bit odd. It's not the best picture, of course.

As a side note, I have commented on the IG post asking about the step, @superlativetime blocked me. --> WTF 🤨

I've double checked with my 2998-1 : it is also flat, I confirm. He could have simply commented forcing me to double check and I'd have mea culpa'd 🤦

Never seen Fab Suisse on Speedmasters before, that's something new to me.

100% says Fab Swisse

"SWISSE" would be another possible interpretation, yes.

I don't doubt the authenticity of this dial though.

He clearly states "FAB SUISSE"

I was referring to what had been said and meant that judging by what you can see it's almost impossible to tell what's printed there on this dial, exactly.

I said above that it is "FAB SUISSE" most likely, but judging to be 100% sure this dial is legit here is unconventionally brave IMO.
