I have been going over this watch with a fine tooth comb for the past 20mins and the bezel is one thing that doesn’t really concern me. Like with pottery first thing I did was run my fingernail across the edge and there are plenty of flea bites. Once magnified there are plenty of micro scratches and nicks. I think with a lot of things when your going to the details we have to have it in person pics are just so deceiving.

Unfortunately, that does not prove anything anymore. There are 2 different makers for the Tachy 1000 insert out there and both are very, very good. They click effortless in an old stainless bezel. and with a polishing compound and slow speed you can easily age that insert in certain parts. Small watchmaker hammer gets a few dents in the insert and : Voila ! That is one sample, that looking at pictures on the net can tell you next to nothing.....

I am going to get an extract so I hope that helps shed some more light on things.

Congrats. Appears to be in exceptional condition. 17301xxx is correct for a 2998-1. Certainly should order an extract and take a Geiger Counter reading. Correct bracelet is a 7077 dated 1959 or 1960. Number 6 endlinks. An awesome piece if it all checks out. I’m interested to hear what @ndgal, @MSNWatch and @Spacefruit have to say.
Looks great to me! 👍

Congrats 👍 Not sure about the technical aspects being discussed but it's a nice-looking watch.
You have a 2998 and need a 7077. Meanwhile, I have a 7077 and I need a 2998 😁
Someone already beat me to it but just to be safe DIBS.
