Really would love to find one of those steel bracelets. Looks great ::love::

I have 2 different versions of cal 1620 and 2 different versions of cal 1621.

Have to find some time to pick them from the safe, make pictures and provide some details I could have gathered so far...::shy::

Would love to see your 1621's, I have seen quite a few of the prototypes.

I have long been intrigued in how so many of the original 20 made their way out of the factory, I know of at least 10, which factored against the other alaska projects means that far more of the 1621's 'escaped NASA/ the factory than the other Alska's.

Example of this is that I own one of only two (that I know of one mine, the other the Davidoff brothers) Speedsonic 'NASA' star made radials to surface out of the factory I have always wondered how many 1621's managed to make their way out. I know of four (including the two at the bonham's 50) that have come from sources close to the factory but by cotrast number 1 of the NASA ones came from Mexico on ebay of all places.

Can you share some pics of your beta light cal 1621's? I have done quite a bit of research on these too so would love to compare notes.

Have you ever seen a picture of the successor 'project condor'? I have tried and tried but never found anything

I have pm'ed some pictures. Will do an extended post on OF when I have time to compile my research and make some nicer photographs.

12 have been delivered to NASA. Around twenty have been made all in all for the Alaska IV project.

Project Condor, never heard of it. Will do some research, too ;)

That would be great, PM received. I know very little about project condor other than what was tantalisingly said on the Omega website but now gone, I believe it was the successor to the 1621, a 'wrist computer' designed to meet all of NASA's space watch needs and intended to replace the Moonwatch, I have found nothing on it.... I will ask more next time I am at the museum but anything you can dig up would be most welcome

    Thanks Tom

I love the look of these LCD Speedmasters and am fascinated by the fact that they used to cost more than the mechanical counterparts. Of course the Mark II cost more than the Speedy Pro too when it was introduced. Makes me wonder what we can buy new today that will change in value like that in future.

Backside shows some interesting color beside the hypocampus. Does anybody knows if that is from the sealing of the case?

Judging by the pic and other pics of NOS Omegas I'd think it was indeed the original purple sealing stuff.

Yes the offer still stands, he or she who can provide a NASA picture ( preferably with official NASA photo number ) showing the Omega quartz Alaska IV Speedmaster being used aboard a space shuttle mission will get an authors signed 2017 edition of the Moonwatch Only book !
