Wasnt sure whether this is/was a modern/vintage topic but since I’m more interested in my -69 I figured I’ll start here.

Does anyone recall any threads that outline the differences between the asymmetrical cases outside of a typical HF/CB comparison.

More specifically- what’s to stop someone acquiring a non serial number laser etched service case (if that’s possible- which I suppose is my first question) and installing a vintage movement - bashing it up a bit and saying it’s original.

I want to take a look at my meagre collection to compare but after digging out MWO they only seem to talk about banana or those with a thicker profile.

Long story short - I have a polished case I want to replace. Trying to figure out the most sympathetic way to do this. I have. -69, 71, and a 2000 watch in this state

Appreciate all pointers

To my untrained eye I see a lot of differentiation.

The 2012 ish Moonwatch seems to have the thinnest brushed ‘lower’. It’s a 777xxxxxx movement bought from Heathrow and never been touched.

By looking at the pics of the cases on the different thread I observed that some have a sharp step on the lower left side. Is that a common manifacturing issue?

Two new comparisons -

Left 145.022 -69
Right 145.022-74 (with bezel and crystal)

To my eyes very different from mWO p64.

It could just be the lighting but on this image I see the variations described.
