·My Watchbox cleanout continues with an Omega Speedmaster 145-022-76 with service and extract from the archives.
Case: The case and bracelet area in great shape, with a tiny fleabite on the case at 8 o'clock and some chips on the bezel paint. The caseback is sharp and crisp. It has a genuine Omega Hesalite crystal. I’d rate this at 85% on the Timezone condition scale and between 'good' and 'very good' on the Speedmaster 101 scale.
Dial: The dial is very clean, with tritium lume plots that have aged evenly to a creamy yellow. The chrono seconds and subdial hands are original. Hour and minute hands are Tritium service replacements, with a bit of paint loss at the base of the hour hand. (When I received this watch it had hands from a Speedmaster Mark II, which I had replaced in service.) I will include the remainder of the service hand set with the purchase if you’d like.
Bracelet: The bracelet is a nice period-correct 1171 with 633 end-links and trapezoidal Omega logo on the clasp, which dates it to before 1980. There is a light desk diving wear and a tiny ding on the clasp. It can accommodate a 7.5 inch/18.5 cm wrist, maybe a bit more. The extract shows that the watch originally came on a DuPont Corfam strap (a kind of synthetic leather). I don’t know when the bracelet was added, but it is period-appropriate to the watch.
Service: This Speedy received a full service in October 2018 at World Time in San José, California. The owner is a Speedmaster collector and knows his business. As you'll see from the timegrapher photos, they did a great job: the watch runs at -1 to +4 seconds per day with superb amplitude and miniscule beat error. The chronograph resets nicely to 0 (see link to video below). I haven’t opened the caseback since it was serviced, but could do so if it’s important to you.
Why am I selling? I have a 145.022-69 that gets all the wrist time, and I'm interested in something new.
Price: $3950, including insured shipping within the USA. I prefer bank wire or Zelle, though I would consider Paypal or Venmo for buyers with good feedback here or on other watch sites. The watch and I are in northern California, so a face-to-face transaction in the SF Bay Area would be welcome. I would consider a trade for a Spring Drive Grand Seiko or Watchco Seamaster 300 though I’m looking more to sell.
I don’t have much sales history here, but have sold many watches on Reddit Watchexchange as u/namrock23. Please have a look at my posts and feedback there! Thanks to OF for the space and mods for their hard work!
