Hello,

I've just get this speedmaster. and I need some skilled look to confirm what I think 😀
It looks like the dial is a 105.012-63 with Asymetrical T.
plexy seems to b good with Omega sign in the midle
Movement is a 321 with Correct serial for 105.012-63 SN :20 522 XXX
there is on flat pusher and one normal so I guess one has been replaced...
the issue is the case back is a 105.002-62 SC.

What do you guys think of this speed ?

If I'm correct I guess i need to replace the caseback by a good one and we're good.

thanks for your expert eyes.

regards,

Speedmaster101 has the range as 20,520,xxx - 20,521,xxx. This seems just past the range for a -63, but it may be possible.

Neither an asymmetric bridge, nor a no T dial. While some examples don’t have them, it cuts against the possibility of it being a -63

Not sure if there is a way to confirm your suspicion to a high likelihood. Unfortunately, finding a -63 caseback on it’s own will be a significant uphill battle.

My Dad has what we think is a 105.002-62A (Alpha Hands). It is engraved with the date 5-26-63 when my Dad graduated with his first degree. If yours is also, it should be a 105.002-62B (Baton Hands). From the bit I have learned while trying to identify my Dad's watch, they are transitional models and may have been assembled with some different parts that were available. However, the case looks a bit different than Dad's. Dad's doesn't have the pusher and crown guards that yours has. I'm a noob in the Speedmaster world, so take my comment with a grain of salt. We have never opened up the watch either so I can't confirm the model number either.

That is a stunning watch but different entirely from the OP’s. You’re is a straight lug/pre professional and the OPs watch is a twisted lug/professional case

Congrats to Dad... He didn't know what he had. It was in a zip lock bag with a broken bracelet pin up until a few months ago. We took it and had the pin replaced and got a box to protect it. Next step will be to have it serviced at LA Watch Works. I am not in possession of the watch, and while I really want it, I'm not exactly in a rush to get it.

Coming back to the original Post what would be the story behind this Speed ? I guess 105.012-64 then. ? I might need to exchange the case back with one of this ref

Respectfully, why bother. Wrong case-back, mismatched pushers, who knows what else. Once one part has been replaced, the odds are good that it has been put together in various ways. Moreover, the watch has cosmetic condition issues across the board. It is what it is. IMO, just enjoy wearing it, and save your money for other watches.
