Hello all, just purchased an Omega Speedmaster Mark 40 Triple date and it worked great until this afternoon after I sized it. When I tried to set the time the minute and hour hand move together when I turn the crown about 4mm apart. What gives? Anyone have any ideas?

Shouldn’t the minute hand move when the hour hand moves?

Yes, but they both move right next to each other....not the way they should move. I have attached two cL photos be for and after i turned the crown. The hands stay next to each other.

I believe he is saying the hands are moving at the same rotation speed instead of the minute hand making one full revolution while the hour hand only moves forward one hour.

The hands are moving together so if they were both at 12 they would move together to 1. A normal watch the minute hand would have to travel around to all numbers 1 through 12 before the hour moved to the 1 position.

I’m not confused. The post makes it clear to me that both hands are moving together at the same rate, separated from each other by 4 mm. I don’t know what the failure is, you need one of the watchmakers to chime in for that, but I do know that ain't right...it needs a service.

EDIT: Maybe you knocked something out of whack during the sizing, especially if you were “bashing” out pins?

Yup, has to go to the watchmaker. You likely knocked the hour hand lose and it's being pushed along with the minute hand.

Thanks you guys! Yes, the hands were both moving slightly apart instead of separately. Will take it to the watchmaker!
