Speedie Mk3 comes in to land

So those of you who have been following my journey through Omega Speedmasters will know I have added an awful lot very quickly. I only had one in December! The lastest was picked up today from a local jeweller here in Manhattan. He had a couple of Mk3s but this one has the crispiest cleanest case so I opted for it. I got the Mk2 from him too. Not my ideal dial and bezel combo. What do forum members think about a change of colour? Should I keep it original as per Archive extract or go for another combo - I rather like the midnight blue version. Engraving to back says 1977 and serial number would concur. It needs a really good service and is not running great but it does fill a gap in the lineup. If anyone knows a reasonably priced service person for these movements and the 861 calibers then please PM me. Either in England or here in Manhattan.

Too many late nights feeding the baby ( but massive Brownie points for a would-be collector) has lead to an influx of Omegas...all part of the pension plan as I explain to my wonderful understanding wife. Anyway, pics to follow. Comments always appreciated.

That case looks great Norfolk. Much better than I'd expected from the photo's from your first trip to this jeweller.

The silver dial with light blue hands has always been my favourite of the MKIII's. I think a new tachymetre would make a world of difference.

If you do go changing the dial can you let me know if you want to sell the hands 👍

Rocco at Watchworks in Bristol is officially certified for Omega servicing. He also does some great re-lapping work after getting cases laser welded. But you won't need any of that.

Wow. Love that last pic. I always thought a flightmaster was the same size. Better put that one on the to-buy list. Anyway no more for me for a while!

Great birth watch. Certainly makes a statement!
Strap was generic. Watch dealer had put it on. The MK4 has a Speidel which I think works really well.

Hi Norfolk, congrats on your silver/blue MK III. I completely agree with RES13 they wear as the look and are totally cool. A great conversation starter BTW. My black dial Mk III was my first vintage watch and door way into the world of omegas and vintage watches. Here is mine 😀

Does it way alot, if you wear a strap instead of a bracelet?

Yes but you get used to it. It's the height that makes it er... Stand Out!
