Hello everyone I’m goncalo from Portugal I would like some help If possible.

I have a omega speedmaster professional that was from my grandfather cal 321 ref 145.012 serial 25xxxx the problem is that the case Is in bad shape and when I took it to the representative of omega here they said they have to send it to the factory and it would came as new, my question is should I send it to the factory to fix? Or should I look for a original case from that time to swap? Will it loose value sending it to the factory to fix everything? It has in bad shape?

Do not send it to Omega, they will ruin it.

Looks lovely, just needs a bit of a sympathetic clean up, do not let anyone try to make it look like new this will kill the value.

Case looks fine to me. A gentle clean + service and you’re golden.

Leave it alone. The case is over 50 years old, it's ok to have some scratches.

Have the watch serviced by an experience independent watchmaker who will clean everything up, lubricate and adjust the movement, and replace all the seals.

Maybe some slight surface pitting but doesn't look like anything major.

Speedmasters arent hugely water resistant at the best of times and neither are vintage watches in general.

The crystal needs polishing that's it, there's nothing else wrong with this Speedmaster.

Congrats, that’s a nice watch. Just bring it to a local watchmaker for a service, and the results will be amazing.

Bracelet is imo the later 1171/1 one (instead of the 1171), bezel is also replaced.

bezel should have a dot over the 90 - which is a big deal for people collecting these. It was probably replaced during a service earlier in the watches life. As it's a family watch, that shouldn't be a big deal for you though.

Honestly that case looks unpolished and really nice. Most likely the pitting is superficial but a decent watchmaker can tell you if they are deeper holes that you need to worry about. The movement looks nice and rust free.
As others have said bezel wrong but a DON can be found for sure.

It looks a nice solid watch, yes it should have a DON bezel but that’s what happens at official services, key parts are lost for service replacements.
Research well who you want to service this watch, someone with knowledge on vintage expensive watches, any marks on the dial caused by a bad service will hurt the value.
You will also wants to keep the hands in original condition, that spear point chrono hand is worth a pretty penny on its own.
    Good luck..

Ok I found a good watchmaker that gave me the same suggestion and making a treatment to the case to prevent future rust he seems legit and as a lot of posted jobs on vintage watches, he says he will keeps the watch with the original parts thank you so much !

those are natural wear and tear on the case from half a century of time telling job. pretty nice metal patina. take care of it as suggested.

No problem, those marks you can see on the case will not be rust, it’s a stainless steel case so I’m not sure what this treatment is your watchmaker is talking about? Hope it all goes okay and post up some pictures when finished.

I think the watch looks great, the wear shows that it has some history behind it. If you want to get the case fixed in a way that will not destroy its charm or "kill its value", there is a great company based in Rome called "Il Menzerna" and they do all kind of case restorations. Here is the link to their Facebook page: https://de-de.facebook.com/pg/IL-Menzerna-159210764768786/photos/

Good luck and enjoy your watch!
