    Hi guys,

I’m new to the speedy love, but have found this listing on eBay and would appreciate some advice on authenticity since I’ve heard the horror stories of people getting scammed before.

    Here is the listing: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/173180459729

It’s the dream watch for me in terms of technical specs, if it is indeed what it claims to be.

I’d like some help determining from the limited pictures what sort of value this watch is. All original parts bar the bezel, which was replaced.

Please let me know what you think about the patina, and condition of the watch, and ultimately how to value it.

Thanks in advance for your help!

JESUS CHRIST! Don't. Check the seller ratings and distribution. Send me your money, I'd at least send you an empty box.

    Hi
    Welcome to OF.

Personally, I wouldn’t risk buying a Speedmaster from Peru (scammer central). To be honest I’d also think very carefully about buying from eBay at least until you know what you’re looking for inside out.

I would research like crazy first using @Spacefruit site

    http://speedmaster101.com/

I think the best Speedmasters are available here on OF Sales Forum - hang around and you’ll find the one for you.

    All the best

    Nathan

He has a large amount of rather valuable Omegas for sale after selling a single thing for $2.99. If you do end up winning it will be a huge gamble, make sure you take all precautions necessary, including videoing you opening the parcel (if one ever arrives...).

I like a risk as much as the next guy, but I would pass on this one.

This is I believe a hijacked account.
Check the ID history, which shows a change of name February 2018.
Coupled with the non matching photos, the lack of feedback, the location.

I remember reading a thread about these Peruvian scammers, but I don't think anyone specifically stated how they actually execute a scam. Do they just ask you to send payment via bank wire or something similarly sketchy?

basically, yes. one way or another, you send them $$ through some irrevocable method, they send you nothing, or something that is not a watch. Some have received rocks, or a box full of batteries, or thin air.

    Don't worry @STANDY...
If anyone gets 'turned over' I'll get my in-laws to take him up in the Andes, 'Shrink his head' and stick it on a 'fakkin' pole!:D

No what they do @oddboy is get you to marry them, get you 'pissed up' on a few cans of Stella Artois, wait until you are asleep, pocket your Brown dial 105.012-65 and then jump on a fast train to Heathrow Airport before you wake up. By the the time you've got your trousers on they're on a plane heading for Lima!:D
I hope she don't read this!.... it could all come true!

Sounds like a resounding no then! Thanks for all the input! I will continue my search. Would much rather purchase from a known seller on these forums. So if anyone has any bones to throw my way, please do!

Some poor soul has just been dudded out of $2k.
With the 1039 bracelet, this watch is worth way more and the reason why it sold for only $2k is the 100% feedback culminated over 3 entire days.

What happened to @Fattony ? He seemed like a great source for vintage Speedmasters but I haven’t seen a post from him in months!

Nothing against him, but I think some find it hard to balance being a dealer and an active member here... is it the same on other forums?

...or maybe he's just busy selling watches.
