Wrong? maybe nothing. Maybe a lot. Depends on how you like your vintage and how you define "wrong" ... I am curious to see other's thoughts. It's not often this reference is available for sale and people seem to have strong opinions about Hodinkee

The bezel looks almost unbelievably fresh to me, relative to the condition of the rest of the watch. It is mentioned that the case has been polished but I would say quite excessively so - the edges of some the lugs look very rounded, the numbers have been polished off the case back and the logo has almost been polished off the crown. The crystal looks pretty beaten up and the bracelet also looks a bit tired and stretched.

All that said, I still thought it looked quite sensibly priced compared to others I've seen.

 

It looks fine and fairly priced to me. Almost too good actually. @Diabolik is our expert in these. I’m not into these either.

Price is quite reasonably, especially considering the bracelet is worth $2K. I think someone will end-up with a nice piece at a very fair price.

 

Endlinks are definitely not correct, and the sub-second hand is not correct given the flat tip rather than pointed. Bezel is probably replacement but no issue with NOS original parts, case is heavily polished and probably pushers are replacement too. Seen these in worse conditions sell for close to 20K so honestly the price tag seems very reasonable to me.

I think flat sub register second is fine. Polished indeed. Endlinks do look like they can be the wrong ones but I don’t think one can say for sure until one sees the code (or the lack of it) that come with them. Price wise, I still remember discussing with LouS a few years back about buying one that was 4K (didn’t buy unfortunately)

 

I missed out on at least 3 SC's on ebay when they were around 3 grand

 

Considering what is being said here about "hey, not a bad price actually" and that it is on Hodinkee, I'm frankly shocked that it is still available - usually we see horrendously overpriced stuff sell in seconds.

 

I can't get past how bad the case is, it is polished to the point of no return. If it weren't for the case I would probably take a shot at it.

 

Apart from the case, and the NOS bezel, watch looks OK to me. Sensible price and, dare I say, almost a bargain

 

Personally i think these are hideous but I’m surprised as well that it’s still available.
