Interesting it’s a capped column wheel. Surprised they capped it per cote de Geneve standards while it’s looks less interesting.

    Let the 321 speculation start.

Looks like it but a 47mm case means that movements too big for a 320. Definitely derived from that line of movements.

    Also $120,000. Wow.

It's not a new movement, they're actual 1913-era 18''' CHRO movements that have been refurbished w/ modern movement jewels added. Any speculation about whether this is a harbinger of a new 321 movement production is pure imagination

Well they gotta recoup some cash from flying in, accommodating, and schmoozing the “great and the good”. ;)

I was not able to find that info when I first started looking. Thanks for the update.

It seems the 18''CHRO had capped and uncapped column wheels back in the day. I was joking that this will cause people to speculate the 321 will be coming back.

I mean I tend to agree in general but this one is a recreation of a pilot's chronograph, which were that kind of size. The size isn't the only thing about this watch that makes me disregard it completely...

47mm cuts me out. Also, 120k kinda seals the deal.

I am a bit surprised that Omega are doing something like this, at this price point. At least it gives us something to talk about:)

It is of course a statement piece watch...look what we can do...we are not just industrial finished SMPs, Speedmasters, ATs and Constellations.

However, I don't see how this fits into their overall brand positioning or some of their recent more value prop focused SS offerings (updated SMP300, non-LE Railmaster, AT...).

It certainly does not line up well with the Kaia's BlingQuartzTresor or Presley's "tough kid" Railmaster:D

As a demonstration of movement expertise, their center dial De ville Tourbillon aligns OK with the Co-axial, +15K Gauss, METAS movement evolution story. This new WW1 LE chronograph is not a "technology showcase", it is a very specific restoration project, a true museum piece brought to life and clearly focused on showing off craftsmanship rather than caliber performance.

I am starting to think that Omega's brand and marketing strategy might be influenced by Monty Python's "and now, for something completely different". Perhaps some Terry Gilliam cartoons linking the watch products, brands might be interesting:D

Ref. the 321 movement speculation discussion: we have indeed discussed the 321 movement comeback to full beaten dead horse status...it is a bit of a cheeky thought, but I have to say that with this WW1 LE chrono project I am starting to consider a 321 Apollo 11 celebration LE more likely than before, though still very unlikely.

But but but --- this is the watch they chose to put at $120k? Really??

Btw - maybe it's the cynic in me - but I'm not expecting too much creativity with next years line up. After all the marketing is going to write itself.

My bet is on a 321 reissue within the next 2 years, restored just like these from their archives

As above, next year there's no need to do anything really special for the Speedmaster Pro. Whatever they release will sell out and sell for a premium once it does so even if it hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way out of the factory
