I was the underbidder but I knew I would not get it. It was an intentionally very lowball bid.
But interestingly there weren't so many people bidding!!
I think the winner did great at 35mm, although that crown seems like an ugly replacement and the subdial is kind of gone.

A lovely watch. The dial has seen better days but it is all original and the hands also look original. 36mm is with the crown, so it is on the small side (probably 33mm without crown).

If so I clearly mis-read but it has to be a good thing...

I contacted the seller and decided to pass on it because of the size: "When you write that the watch is 36mm, is it with or without the crown? yes with crown." At 36mm, it would have been a great watch. Still, it is a honest example at a reasonable price.

Well at 32mm for me it was perfect -- but it really was my bidding limit.
    Something's got to give.

I think this one could very soon become a money pit with the original cost price soon being eclipsed by the servicing/parts bill. Don´t forget this was described as a non-running parts watch. It could have many unforeseen and undisclosed issues.

Sweet of you to comfort but nah--- maybe it's presumptuous but I would not have worried, those 12.68Z are workhorse movements, mass produced from the 1930s into the 1950s-- they're all over the place, I even have a spare one in my closet. They're like the Longines equivalent of Omega 30T2. And I now have a really good and very reasonable watchmaker.

I hear you the movement could be trashed and in need of a replacement and the list goes on and on Speaking for my self I would have passed on that Longines she is in rough shape and appears to have had a hard life

The movement looked clean and parts for 12.68Z (or donor movements) are readily available. The biggest issues are the crown and the lug, which someone overpolished to the point of exposing the spring bar hole. This would be nearly impossible or very expensive to fix.

Okay well no regrets then, thanks @dodo44 -- the crown was what bothered me most and I must admit I hadn't noticed the lugs, as I wasn't very serious (timing was about as bad as it gets).
