Lot 416 at Gildings Auction , UK. A bit of a barn find. No movement pictures. The crown suggests, it was serviced in the past. A bit of a guessing game, maybe 2998-2 or 3? That disaster dial has an appeal and fits exactly in with the bezel and that rough case.....

Don't worry. The estimate is only a couple of hundred pounds.

If you are talking about the one on yesterday's auction with the brown dial, it was a 105.002-62 and sold for 7000gbp without the premium

Edit: Sorry, wrong watch. It is today as others already said

Bidding already at £7764 with premium at the Saleroom so I guess the estimate was a bit off?

https://www.the-saleroom.com/en-gb/...aign=auction-alert&utm_content=lot-image-link

"The dial is 32mm and the case 42mm excluding pushers, all hands are present, the dial is marked and pitted, there appears to be rust on the seconds hand, the crown will set the hands, the constant seconds is working, the 30 minute recorder returns to the upright position, the twelve hour recorder does not, the top pusher starts the centre seconds hand and stops it, the bottom pusher returns the hand to the upright position, the outer bezel has wear, the deployment clasp has a dent. The watch has been consigned by a private vendor."

Damn if the seller was watching that they’d likely be a bit pissed off !

Seems like prior approval was required to go over £6500, and it sold for £6600. The auctioneer was even suggesting auto bids we’re losing out as they weren’t approved. He did warn people about 5 lots before the speedy but surely a bit late by then.

Fetched slightly over the estimate of a few 100` pounds..... Hammer at Pounds 6600 plus nearly 30% . would have gone a lot higher, if many online bidders had called in before hand, to comply with the money laundering bid limit of pounds 6500, if they wanted to go higher..... and they did not. interesting !

Hammered at £6,600. With fees £8,575 or there abouts.

From watching live, it seems that there were some technical issues, with the Auction House accepting a maximum of £6,500 online. The auctioneer said he saw a number of people trying to bid, but the system would not allow them too as the next increment was £6,700.

I would be very irritated if I was the seller.

Reminds me of this from ebay a while back: https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/tudor-ref-7923-submariner-ebay-most-expensive-ever
