I'm considering to buy a 145.012-67 with a 2654xxxx serial matching early 1968, last batch of cal. 321 Speedmasters...

However, according to Moonwatch Only, dial looks not corresponding to that make year. Seconds Hand could be original as available starting from 68's but the dial is really curious

Any comments in that? Your inputs are much welcome and appreciated.

Dial should have 'Professional' under the Speedmaster logo. Maybe there were some exceptions but this style of dial was from the earlier straight lug models.

Exactly what I found out in Moonwatch Only, right.

However this dial is mentioned as 1964-1969 in MO...

To my knowledge, the pre-Professional dial appeared only on the straight-lug models. The 105.003 model was produced concurrently with the 105.012 for a few years in the mid-1960s, so while movement serials are sometimes interchangeable, the dials were not. This dial is almost certainly wrong for this watch.

I agree, dial is wrong, but the second hand could be right, i have a sept '68 145.012 and that has an original flat ended second hand. My only concern with your would be that the lume colour is not conistant across the whole watch, the second hand is darker than the other lume. I will defer though to more experienced members though if they diagree.:)

Once it's clear the dial and bezel are later additions, it's impossible to assume that any other part is original either.

Thanks to all of you for your comments, this confirms what I could find so far.
I will skip it, there is no hurry and I'd better find something more consistent, indeed. :whistling:

    Thanks

I think I will skip too. What explanation did the seller give you? I'm not in a hurry neither. the thing is that he offers paypal and possible refund. Well, if anybody has a clean speedy for sale...

Well, I told him that the watch is not consistent enough for me to buy it - therefore I decided to cancel the deal. No reason to invent another story... :whistling:
