I happened to ran across this lovely Omega diver. Judging from the look of it, it has actually been used as it was meant to be, as a diver´s watch!

As a project watch, it´s extremely tempting! I would definitely keep everything under the crystal, but would exchange the dive bezel, since I take it, that it can´t be repaired?

NB, it´s not my watch. Yet. But if I should place a bid on it, what should be fair/ reasonable, meaning also a fair chance of getting it? I would love to get some advice here, since I don´t have a clue myself.

The ones I´ve seen posted here and elsewhere, has never appealed to me, but this one surely did, as a punch in the stomach actually! :D

    Le Grand Bleue!

Did you ran across it, or over it?

Bezel is gone for sure. The movement is a Omega 1040. Parts are no problem.
    Pushers, check. Crown? ::bleh::
I´d say at the right price it would make a very cool project.
Bezel is the biggest problem to source, but I have seen them out there.
Beater with an attitude for sure!

BTW Ofrei still lists replacement dials for it, but that would not be so much fun would it?

I personally love the dial and hands. If you decide to pass on it please let me know

Reminds me of my favorite baseball mitt, all broke-in, comfortable and ready to do some bidness!
If you can't read that bezel you won't be diving much anyway.
I'd tune her up and skip the lipstick!

that bezel is a bit too scarred for my taste, it will definitely look not right with a new one, perhaps another used but not abused will be a middle of the road option.. a nicely aged dial BTW!

For sure a little work on it but it's classy. I would definitly keep the dial like this. As for the bezel, a new insert won't be shocking if ever you find one. If you don't buy it, tell me :)
    Any pic of the movement?.

I actually don't mind that, if it were a Submariner one of the Rolex guys would be all over it with that patina lol

concerning the general condition, it really depends on the price that is asked.

I love the look of it. Leave it as it is. Ok, a new crown, but keep the bezel. That is individuality, character, personality.

The dial is sweet - worth picking up if the price is right IMO.

With a dial like that, it would be crucial to see the movement as well...

I would change the bezel, crystal and clean or light polish the case, buy original crown, make service. After that it will be lovely watch.
    Did You buy it?

Not yet. Negotiation is ongoing. There's a slim chance of closure. Say 20%
