Ok, so I over blew the whites in the OP photo. Just got off a plane and staggered into my cave and that was the result. 5 ours sleep later:



Then I noticed what may have been something I am embarrassed I missed. The darker dial has unusual shaped hands:


The tips of the hour and minute hands are shorter, the ends being a smaller triangle

Have I got myself some non original hands?

I am about to go comparing but I think I have not seen this shape in Speedmaster hands.

Are they mk3 hands?

 

As david said, they are MK III or MK IV hands, have seen a lot of Speedys with these wrong hands, they are shorter and thicker and even come in Tritium.

The blue dialed one is gorgous

 

I certainly hope you are able to get by with what you have. It has to be tough.

Just noticed that the minute hand on your blue dialed 105.003 is a bit too short too, compared with the hand of you chocolate dialed one

i would not say that this are MKIII or IV hands, the luminos on the MK hands ist quite shorter. Acc. this http://www.standop.net/Uhren/Div/downloads/omegaspeedmasterbroschueregstandop.pdf report (page 7) from Gerhard Standop Omega has also used some shorter and thicker hands for the 105.003. i dont know its true or not but why not.....

 

maybe Service hands from the same manufacturer who made the hands for the Mk IV !?
I did also see one or two Speedies that had square hands with a flat tip and i do recall that someone did sell them on ebay as service hands

 

SF you have one of the most impressive collections I have ever seen. My quote was laced with envy. While the new blue dialed Speedy is away I thought you would have plenty of great watches to keep your wrist happy. Unlike my one Speedy, when it's away I'm done.
