Some help identifying the reference on this?

Hi there.

A friend of mine inherited this little beauty from his grandfather. His grandfather got it for his 50th birthday, so we're assuming its from somewhere around 1966. I'm pretty new to Omega, so I'm wondering if anybody here could help me establish the reference? Any advice would be much appreciated.

All the best.

Hi Torstein.

Are you in Norway by any chance?

It is most likely a Constellation ref. 168.005 though the real star here is the golden milanese bracelet - are there any stamps in the clasp? It looks as if it could be an original Omega item. Is the watch case in solid gold?

@TorsteinB since you said you are new to Omega, you can confirm the reference number and the gold content question posed by ConElPueblo by getting a picture of the inside of the caseback.

Here is an example

Hi and thanks for your responses!

I am in Norway indeed!

I’ll take the watch to my watchmaker so he can have the caseback opened. I’ll post an update!

Torstein is a very, very Norwegian name 😁

If you turn the watch around, the rear side of the lugs will either be gold or steel coloured - if they are the latter, it is a gold capped watch, otherwise it is solid gold. In that case there will be two hallmarks stamped on the rear of the lugs - they will tell if it is a 14 or 18 carat case.
