Hey everyone. I can' help but admire the ceragold planet ocean chronograph and the yellow gold speedmaster 57 on bracelet. However I never see any of these watches on wrists or for sale.

Do these watches lose a ton of value on the preowned market compared to solid gold rolex? If I was going to aggessively negotiate on price new at an AD what kind of discount should i aim for? Thanks for the advice.

A brand new 18k gold SM300 co axial on a gold bracelet retails for 32000 GBP. I saw one on watchrecon for 18000 pounds, so I suppose they do loose a shed load of money. I think this type of watch is only made in small numbers.

If you can find one in a dealer’s showroom, I suspect you could negotiate a good bargain compared to the list price, but it would still be a lot more expensive than the steel model. Since the gold watches aren’t fast sellers in general, the dealers would probably be happy to clear their stock, and might even take a loss. But if they have to order it for you, don’t expect much of a discount.

The gold ones lose frightening amounts of money out the box. You’re better off looking for a vintage one. Seems to me that they don’t appear a lot though (maybe people don’t want to realize the loss?).

I’m lusting after a Globemaster in Sedna gold, new from OB £14,400, but I’ve seen two for sale under a year old for less than £8,000. I appreciate that these were probably picked up tax free but that’s still 45% off RRP or 33% off the tax free price. Eye watering...

Thanks for the replies. It is disappointing that there is not a stronger market for these watches.
