Solid end links on Omega

Not sure that’s the desired answer, but aren’t the endlinks of solid gold 7077s (late 50s) also kinda solid? They only have the tube for the spring bars, which, admittedly, given their size make the endlink seem pretty hollow. But there’s no extra space in there I believe.
