Update: confirmed 14K gold case
Last serviced in 2011 - service crown and crystal. with genuine omega parts (so he says)
i bought it.
Jeez, Gord, wouldya quit hogging these damn things? Make some room, eh?
It's the colour of the gold...
0N - green
1N - pale yellow
2N - light yellow
3N - yellow
4N - pink
5N red
This follows EN/ISO standards for the colours and composition of gold.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a « red gold » watch.
The gold used in the Landeron powered, Chronographe Suisse watches has this very intense color. Much deeper red than a pink or rose gold. This picture does not do it justice.
Looked up which modern watches use 5N red gold and came up with this one:

Hope this helps,

thank you! Very interesting indeed.
However if the grade is not inscribed on cases or distinguishable via hallmarks for vintage examples it’s no wonder that sellers or others would be abusing the labels or mixing them up.
below are all watches randomly picked up from Ebay- all listed as « rose gold » or « pink gold », for some it’s obvious, for others more subtle, and for a couple eg #2,#3, and the last one, it’s frankly questionable...apologies for thread drift.
👍well done, congrats - and now we want to see the pics when you get it!
Cool info, thank you so much.
it would be great to see an array of watches with all of the color gradations because so many people nowadays claim «pink gold » and « red gold » completely frivolously.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a « red gold » watch.
I see the rose gold description used for lots of jewelry that is not pink or red. The first Bulova tank in this thread is the classic color that I associate with rose gold.
