·SOLD is a less common cap gold model of the Grand Seiko 4520 with the “Hi-Beat” 36,000 bph movement. Produced concurrently with the other 36,000 bph movement 61GS (with the automatic movement), these manual wind GS’s were made at the Daini factory starting around 1968 onwards through the mid 70’s. The case serial number dates the production of this example to around April 1969. Following the Grammar of Design case shape, it’s in my opinion one of the greatest Seiko designs and wears relatively thin compared to other vintage Grand Seiko’s. Why am I selling? I went through a gold spree recently and now I have a bunch of gold or cap gold watches I don't get much of a chance to wear beyond 1 or 2.
Dial/Hands - Everything looks to be completely original and in incredible shape. There is no flaw on the dial or hands that I can find. Onyx topped hour markers and the black lines through the hands make the dial super legible. Crystal has a small scratch around the 10 hour marker.
Case - In very good condition and doesn’t look to have been polished. Vertically brushed surface at top and bottom still has the graining visible. Some minor wear can be seen on the sides and bezel, but nothing that is obvious unless you’re looking a few inches away. Crown looks to be original and in excellent condition.
Caseback - Yes, I have a separate section for the casebook, this is vintage GS after all and you’re here for the gold medallion, no? Excellent condition and one of the better preserved GS medallions I’ve seen.
Movement - As described above, this runs the 36,000 bph Hi-Beat 4520A. Excellent cosmetic condition, however I am unsure of service history. When I last checked the timing, it was losing about 0.2 seconds per day. Not bad.
Strap/Buckle - Kelaran black alligator with slight gloss in regular size, excellent value strap. Non-GS gold-plated buckle.
SOLD $1000 US shipped CONUS and inclusive of PayPal fees via ParcelPro. Please PM me if you would like international shipping or to pay by wire, and we can adjust the price accordingly.
