Omega Speedmaster 105.002-62 SC

Delivered to Germany in August 1963. This watch has a number of service parts which, whilst detracting from its value as a collector's piece, retain the unmistakable look and presence of an early straight lugged, pre-Moon Speedmaster - in a very attractive and wearable watch.

Original, correct, period parts

321 movement, serial 19832848 (correct range for this rare reference)
DON tachy bezel, Base 500, 15%-20% off black, pleasing grey hue.
Case in good condition. Lightly polished at some point in the past.
Inside caseback ,105.002-62 SC
Caseback. Strong, clear Hippocampus, logo and Speedmaster engraving.
Inscribed to Jose Eugenio De Franck, C.D.M 1964.

Service Parts

Dial, hands, crown, pushers, crystal.

I do not profess to be a great watch photographer! Let me know if there is anything you'd like to see more of and I will do my best to accommodate.

What's wrong with this watch?

From a collector's point of view, the service parts.
And the caseback inscription may not be everyone's preference. But I love it.

What's good about this watch?
It has 'the look' that screams early Speedmaster.
This watch presents very well, and is an eye-catching, attractive piece.
The service dial is super. The DON bezel is a good one. They match beautifully in their grey/off-black hue.
321 movement in very nice condition, correct serial number for this rare reference. Recently checked out by Simon Freese, it does not require a service.
Straight lugged pre-Moon case in good, lightly polished condition.
Comes with its Extract of Archives.

Why am I selling?
It's reluctant, tbh. But I'd like to raise funds for some work on my home. New kitchen, etc.

What's included?
Watch head and Extract Of the Archives. (The strap shown here is not included. You wouldn't want it anyway as it is about to expire. But FYI it is an ABP python, which I think looks amazing on this watch.)

Price
£8000 + any delivery charges to me. I am happy to listen to offers.
Delivery to be discussed with buyer, and to his/her preference.

Watch is in London. Happy to meet F2F for inspection. Can bring to Time4aPint gtg on Tuesday if requested.
Thank you all for looking, and to the always amazing OF for the space.

Lovely classy watch Neil and, I love the case back inscription. Really cool font style. It's a very exotic sounding name and in my eyes adds to the charm of the watch.
Good luck with the sale.👍

Thank you, Sir! I love it too... really enigmatic. Bit mysterious. Have googled all of it and found... nothing. Makes me want to know more. Hope all is well with you. We met briefly at a T4aP a while back... any chance of you being in London again soon? N.

Yes thankyou Neil. The last meeting I attended was very interesting for a novice like myself and I am hoping to tie up one of my London trips with one of Chris' T4aP evenings soon.
GLWTS. 👍
