Folks, this is a catch and release but I thought I'd offer it here for a day before it goes to the 'bay. I'm not sure if we have many Smiths collectors here but this one's a cracker. I'd usually keep this for me ... but, bills to pay, bezels to find ... Anyway ... this is an auction purchase, so the service history is not known - lets get that out the way first. By 1954, this model was given the name "De Luxe". I've cleaned the glass and case; made sure no bits are falling off; and, wound it and let it run a day. It's lost a minute sitting on my desk but then the regulator is over to the slow side. Case - damn near perfect. Made by Dennison. Marked inside "dennisteel". Horn lugs are sharp enough to cut yourself (I mean, damn ... just look at those lugs!). some marks on the outside of the 7 o clock lug. 32mm without the crown, 33mm with and 40 lug-to-lug. Lug size, 16mm. Dial - brushed steel, some spotting, overall good. Movement - Smith's own 15j manual wind; serial no C53747 places it 1951-1952 Hands - well, there's three of them and they're gorgeous! There is some wear to the minute hand. Strap - none. The one it came on was too big and just plain past it. Plenty of photos from all angles should show everything you want to know but if you've any questions, ask! This sale is for OF members only; sorry folks ... no posting history, no sale. Asking £150 with postage to the UK at £2.90 and rest of the world £10.00. It will go to the 'bay when I pull out a strap to fit where it will cost more.
I see no reason for it not to be - I have it in hand with a loupe if there's something you want checking.
I was just wondering because the "made in England" font is quite funky. I guess I'm just not familiar with the font. Haha. Your photos are good enough actually. GLWS. Thanks for replying
I looked back at the photos and it could be the glass, light or anything else so I closed the blinds, moved things around and snapped this for you: I don't think there's anything off with it.
