For you consideration is a very special watch from the Vacheron Constantin collection. I proudly purchased this from Dennis about 1 1/2 year ago. It has one of the most beautiful gilloche dials you will find on a watch. However, I am selling for two reasons: 1) I have the opportunity to purchase a Patek Nautilus 5711 with the blue dial, 2) This watch is so beautiful that I have rarely worn it. It has stayed in the safe. I may have worn it three times since Dennis kindly passed it on. The watch is 18k including the VC buckle. It is in superb condition, as the pictures show. It comes with all paperwork, warranty book, double boxes, as well as two extra custom ordered alligator straps. The 18k case is in superb condition, and the watch has the celebrated VC 1400 house movement. The case is 36mm, but it wears larger than its size. The lugs are georgeous. I understand the gilloche ring around the movement in the back is 18k white gold. Watch is exactly as I purchased it a year and a half ago. This model is not made any more. They replaced it with the Patrimony Traditionelle without the gilloche dial with a retail of $19,500. I did some research, and this model is offered on watch sites or ebay for anywhere from over 9k up to 14k. I will price this special VC at $7800 including postage and insurance in continental USA. I will be glad to send additional pics if you send me a pm.
I've seriously considered rebuying this. VERY seriously. However, to help move it along and end the temptation, allow me to show a few glamor shots......
Dennis, that was like your favorite watch 3-4 years ago, judging by how often it was in these WRUW posts...
What can I say..... I'm fickle. It's still one of the best looking watches I've ever owned. Still have to cure one or two other watch crushes from my early days, but I'm glad I owned this particular watch for 5 years. 5 years...... do you know what that equates to in flipper time?
It's hard to capture in pictures just how lovely the guilloche is in the metal, but it is truly amazing!. GLWTS!
Thanks, all and thank you Dennis for the extra pics. It’s like...it’s indescribably delicious! Here’s a pic. of my 5711, the ONLY reason I am letting go of the VC. This is not an inexpensive watch!!
A lot more versatile. I have too many dressy watches already. I jones for a Lange 1815 Up Down or your VC , also the Historiques American 1921. But then I wonder if I'd really wear them.
That 5711 is sweeeet! Oh I'm sure you will. The 1815's are surprisingly more versatile than this VC. They can be worn casually for a weekend with a nice shirt and jeans, but the VC is somewhat more formal. Both are lovely from the front and the back.
As do I with my RGM. Lange is awesome with their finishing. But so is VC. The subject of this post is a real stunner.
