Well Canada is of course officially metric, but since I worked as a project engineer for a US based company for 23 years, pretty much all the work I did there was in inches. The only exceptions were when we had drawings from one of our plants overseas - from France for example - not only metric but first angle orthorgraphic projection - felt like I had to stand on my head to read a drawing...
Brings back memories, remember getting a call late one day in early '95, could we handle an emergency alteration contract required for next morning?
Turns out it was materials that had been shipped over to the UK to be incorporated in to sections of the new MARTA Olympic transit system.
Long story short, they would not fit and required reducing and re-shaping - cost no problem so grabbed the contract
Materials delivered along with drawings and ready to go, drawings all to point xyz of an inch ??? as we probably said wtf.
Some fun and games before we finally got going.
