This thread makes me dream... If one day I can afford a birthday Rolex, it would be a 1972 Pepsi, thanks for these nice pics.
To be able to do my homework, could you indicate me a reference book on the Pepsi one? Especially to be able to evaluate the polishing level of ads I see sometimes...

A specific book on the GMT-master with good color photos = MONDANI edition about the GMT-master
Additional books exist but photo-wise, this comes as a second:
Vintage Rolex Sports Models: A Complete Visual Reference and Unauthorized History
A superb reference for all vintage Rolex watches = VRFM Chevalier Edition

Speaking of 5.1m Radials, here’s one that popped up for sale on TRF from a dealer yesterday. It’s a classic turn and burn deal.

This watch first appeared on another dealers IG with a very nice MFF, Jubilee bracelet and no Red Hand. Both watches have the same dial and case. The case is extremely weak and dial has its issues with the lume plots at 11 and 12 o’clock. Hands also appear to have been swapped by current dealer.

This is becoming comical at this point, if you’re a dealer, wouldn’t you at least send this to LAWW for a case refinish to justify the asking price? The current seller has an affinity for inserts, so I’m sure that’s where he’s making his profit. Lastly, the Red Hand looks suspect to me, given everything thats been identified with the watch.

This is the second Radial with a story that has changed hands multiple times with multiple dealers in the last 6 months. I guess there is a sucker born every minute.

    I love this hobby.

Luckily mine is a one previous owner unpolished example and has a 509 serial. Here it is with a very controversial Blueberry insert fitted!

Question for my dudes with BLRO / BLNR on Jubilee who also have Speedies:

How do they wear compared to the Speedy? On a list for a Pepsi which I’ll probably get a call for sometime in the 2060’s but I spoke to someone recently who reckons they wear bigger than a Speedy, which is definitely my upper limit.

1675 is fine on me but never seen a ceramic one in the metal.

I wouldn’t agree that the new Batman wears bigger than the Moonwatch. It’s feel smaller to me but it does feel a bit larger than my 16750. The Batman is a great watch and I wouldn’t worry about it being too big compared the 42mm Speedy.

Here are photos of all three on my wrist.

Agreed! Some amazing GMTs here. The Rolex GMT is a perpetual classic.

Mine for the form. 'E' serial. Circa 1991. I have both the Pepsi and Coke inserts. Not sure which it came with originally. 'Till death do us part'!

    My personal take on this.

1675 wears perfectly smooth, thickness is perfect, the way the watch fits on my (somewhat below average 17cm) wrist is surreal, it seems to wrap around the wrist. Feeling from a vintage speedy with folded-link bracelets is the same, be it straight or lyre lugs. I feel modern speedies wears a bit less natural on the heavier-linked bracelets, when going back straps you get that lost loving feeling back. Both are like delicate italian car doors, you just have to baby them into closed position.

The BLRO feels very different. It wears heavier, thicker. It has that stronger, beefier "toolwatch" feel. The speedies and the older GMT's feel "light" compared to it. It is not a matter of size, the watch is not that big, it's more a "top-heavy" watch I think. It has a "modernity" feeling to it that is very nice, very different however, you feel like you're wearing something much sturdier. In the end it isn't that big, when you turn your eyes to the watch to check it out you're like "no, it's not big... why do I feel this way then?" :D To link it back to the italian car door thing, the BLRO is the 80's Mercedes-Benz or Porsche door "thunk" thing. I don't know how to describe this any better.

Again, it's a "Feeling" thing rather than a fact!

And because this thread is useless without pitchers and this is the Rollie GMT thread after all:

For me, comparing a 6 digit modern GMT to a vintage 4 digit is apples vs. oranges. The 1675 conforms to the wrist perfectly, it's one of the most comfortable watches out there. It's size is proportional to it's weight. Modern Ceramic GMTs are a tank comparatively speaking, it's not even close, the case is a lot bulkier just like much of the modern Rolexes. I own both, but rarely wear my 6 digit GMT, it takes a bit of getting used to if you're not accustomed to it's weight and proportions. The only modern Rolex Ceramic which comes close to a 1675 is the Daytona, in terms of case thickness and fit.

The Speedmaster, well that's a whole different animal all together. It all depends on the reference and bracelet. Modern Speedy bracelets are very thick and heavy, which I don't find attractive at all.

    Just my $.05.
