    Hi Omegoids,

I was browsing idly through eBay and one of these popped up. Never heard about them..love the 70's "Stingray" case styling. What do you guys know about them?

Definitely funky looking, but was the case that polished when it left the factory, or has it been polished to make it "shiny new" looking?

    I just dont know, sorry

    Cheers paul

    It's been polished :(.

Original finish was radial/sunburst brushing on top, mirror finish on the sides.

    Pic from the webtubes.

I think they were made for the Italian market. Here is mine. The case should be brushed.

Very 70's and very, very expensive for what it is, IMO.

Does anyone know what the original strap was supposed to be on these? Any old adverts or catalogue pics? My one has just arrived and it's already off for revision and a new crown (and perhaps relapping..)

Without being 100% sure I believe that the strap on my one is correct. I was reading something about 70s omega watches the other day and atleast the buckle seems to be period correct.

    Thanks Lillatroll!
Yeah that looks about right, and as you say, period correct. I think that's the second or third I've seen with a fairly non descriptive strap and that buckle. Now I don't have the pressing urge to go looking for some mythical esoteric steel bracelet or period shark mesh, I think I'll just leave it on the nice 20mm lizard strap I stuck on it before it went off for revision and repair. I'll post a pic here of the finished result around Summer's end...depending on his repair price quote I may risk having it relapped. (My watch guy is pretty slow!! )
