Yes, it took almost a year since I found the very nice early fifties jumbo case. But I really wanted a Constellation. And yes there are lots of them around...and I always found a reason to hold back...fussy fussy fussy. Yesterday I saw one that ticked all my boxes. A little bit of back and forth with the seller, we both found a price were happy with, and now it is on its way to me. Full 18k with the 551 movement.

OK, so now you have to find an arrowhead and a guilloche. 🙄

Lovely. A gold pie-pan is on my want list too, but with dog-leg lugs.

This one captured everything I wanted in a Constellation. Elegant, classic, a great movement, 18k...a work of art from what for me is Omega's golden age. That movement is equal to anything ever made...sheer beauty.

Yes. 3900 GBP sterling or $5096 USD. And for an 18k quality watch I do not consider that excessive. Not cheap either...but it really comes down to finding the perfect watch that ticks all your boxes. I almost went for many other Omegas, stainless, two tone, 14k, 18k, but they each just missed out being exactly what I wanted. This particular one I rank with all the top end watches, from VC, Rolex, Patek, etc. I'm having a bespoke alligator strap made for it...playing with what color as we speak. I don't own a lot of watches...but each one is very special to me in one way or the other.

Well, it was on my wrist at 3 pm Los Angeles time today. Boy is DHL a good shipper. It was picked up in Norwich, UK on the morning of April 4, and it was through customs and in my hands in just three days. I had a sale unwind on a different watch because FedEx let the watch sit in customs in Memphis for 10 days and gave me no indication when it would clear and when I would see the watch. This watch really has a presence...it just looks fantastic. I had to get used to trying to wind that little crown with all smooth surfaces. I had a steel Constellation with the same type of winding crown and it was brutal trying to get a hold of it. I was finally able to give this one about 15 winds, and according to the little Omega instruction manual, that is all you need...the act of wearing will keep it fully charged. Can't stop staring at it on my wrist.
