Snoopy question

Stupid question for those of you with far more experience with Speedy/Snoopy than I have.
I'd like to add a Speedy to my collection- never owned one but I've aways hankered after one. I can get a Pro, a speedmaster 57 ( new reissue) or a 50th Speedy. This isn't a "what should I get" question. More , a " will the look of the Snoopy get jaded after a while?" question. The Pro hasn't really changed much to my eye over the years ( testament to the fact they got it right way back when). The 57 is quite cool ( I've tried on the sandwich dial which is striking- would complement my Railmaster 57 I guess , may be to much so ) but the Snoopy has a colour scheme and coolness which is undeniable. However, is the design of the 50th doing to be as timeless as the Pro and variants have proven to be?
Many thanks for any insights.
Kevin

So you say you can get a Snoopy. Is that paying a premium?

I much prefer the Moon.

No premium. I just have an AD who I've dealt with for a long time. He's always been decent to me , I've never flipped anything I've got from him. I live in New Zealand, Snoopy's will be few and far between here, He's only got the one, showed me last seek. Thanks ! Appreciate the thoughts.

What is a Speedy 50th?

As far as your trusty dealer is concerned, he is willing to let you buy his one and only Snoopy at the normal Omega price? If so, jump on it now.

Personally, I would jump on that snoopy before it gets sold to someone else.

Same as above, if I could have got a Snoopy when I bought my 3861 then I wouldn’t have deliberated for very long, I’d have ripped their hand off for the Snoopy. I think it’ll be timeless but that’s just my opinion.

When I first heard of the Snoopy, it seemed odd to me. Why would I want a cartoon character on a $10k watch? I mean I don't wear Snoopy t-shirts for example.

I understand that there is some history, but I wonder how much people want a Snoopy only because others want one.

Most people want one based on the history of the first two. No one was jumping on the first Snoopy when it was first introduced, it was only after the second one that the interest ramped up. When the third one came out people thought it would be another Snoopy 2 and they didn't want to miss out. FOMO took hold and is still in operation today.

Funny how people thing that bracelet looks dated, but don’t say the same about the 70+-year old oyster bracelet. 😉

I get that many consider the Oyster timeless, but still.

having had a a couple watches on the “Bond” bracelet, I can tell you it really is quite comfortable. I also don’t thing the watch looks right on any other bracelet. I can understand the bracelet may not be for everyone, but it really is a distinct one. No other watch has something similar, but Oysters (or oyster-like) are a dime a dozen.

I wonder how often FOMO is followed by buyer's remorse! 😀

Don't get me wrong - if you like the Snoopy watch or any other watch, buy it...for you.

Think you got your threads mixed up. 📖

And that has crossed my mind too. I get the history. I love the colour combination , the blue on silver is stunning. The ceramic bezel is gorgeous. But, Snoopy on the front? Hmmm... I'll go back tomorrow and have another look.

I understand and like the history, hell I was raised on Schultz and Peanuts ~ the cartoon in the morning paper, the various holiday specials, assorted toys at birthdays & Christmas... and of course an obsession with all things Space as a child of the 60's, but on a spendy watch - I still don't get it.
I appreciate those that do but for me I don't get it.

Apologies for the Thead Drift but... @Jazzluvva - would I be correct in assuming the username is because you dig jazz?

Pricked my eyes being that I am a jazz musician (or was - 23 years in New York City but these days, residing in the deserts of Southern New Mexico there ain't much Bebop amidst the rattlers and scorpions).

I probably wouldn't have even thought about it but I my AD knows I like watches that aren't all that "common". Which is why the Snoopy appeared on the radar. I had previously seen the Moonwatch professional ( body glass and hesalite) and liked that too. Still, worse problems to have . I'll go see all three again tomorrow. Thanks for the thoughts
