Hello,

Purchased this Omega SMP300 36mm from a trusted dealer in my city. Noticed the serial isnt engraved on the lug by the 7 oclock position.

Is this normal?

Thanks!

I had a 2531.80 with the serial on the movement scratched off, so I returned it. But I think it's common for it not to be on the lugs, but I'm not an expert...

Know in years past, Costco was a gray dealer and would polish the serial numbers off lugs. Think it was due to selling at a discount or something. No idea if this is one of those.

The only thing I remember is the bracelet code (not on the lugs of course) I’ll need to double check when I get home. I like those little watches very unobtrusive and they feel nice to wear. Some years didn’t have serial numbers on the lugs (semi vintage if you will) but I don’t know the dates off hand.

I'm no expert on these, but I think the first couple of years, 1993 to 1994, they didn't etch the serial on the lugs.

Yours should be an early production run: 1109 movement, early serial number, tritium lume, font style. I think it looks fine and in pretty decent shape.

I`d say those early production watches even did not have the He lettering on the helium escape ventil. This can`t be seen from the pics, also could be exchanged during service...

I am not sure about the serial, but everything else looks legit so I would not bother much. Love that movement 😀 enjoy wearing it! I just bought the same reference too
