I've recently acquired a 10 year old SMP with the blue, aluminium bezel. Currently it's in mint condition but I gather, over time, many such bezels will scratch. I don't want to be paranoid about this happening but if it should, can the bezels be refurbished? If not what is the approx cost of a replacement please? (Is that included in an Omega service?) .. just being realistic and planning ahead ☺

£275-£300 via the aftermarket, £190 extra when taken as part of a £375 service. (~£320 at STS if you are in the UK)

They are obviously not cheap and the insets aren't available separately.

Ouch. Thank you. So better value to be replaced during a service (albeit a pricey service! Haha). How tough are the aluminium bezels. ..do they mark/scuff easily if knocked?

Not exactly sure about the bezels in question but from my experience aluminum is easy to scratch.

The anodizing can be scratched - if you happen to knock the bezel against something hard it will get damaged. On this one the only option is a full replacement bezel.

Ok. Thanks. Don't want to wear it with kid gloves really. Is it inevitable then that on average most do end up getting scratched/dinged over time?

It depends, when I wear my beaters I always ding the watch on something, but to this date I have never smacked my non beaters off of anything, looking forward to see what my modern speedies bezel will look like in 60 years....
