Great catch! I’m also looking forward to the 6B/2167 repro strap, but virtually everything looks good on a Smiths - I like the Perlon (and Smiths civilian advertising of the time shows W10s on Perlon)!

57 on the movement indicates May 1967, which puts it in the first year of production, similar to the others seen I think. I am just a little jealous...lol. The crystal should just polish up easily as it's acrylic. Congrats again. You will need one of the upcoming 6b/2167 reproduction straps on it once they are in production.

I'll just pop in a new acrylic then, ordered one from the bay just this moment. Thank you for your insights and help. This watch is the star of the items I've got.
I am going through the rest of them now and will be posting soon again. As far as my research went I'm gonna be rocking this piece on different colored perlons as it's close to the vintage civilian offer and maybe a leather "nato". But I'll definitely need the repro strap for the display case.

Thank you! That bit about perlon was the only info i've managed to find while searching for a parking place near to my watchmaker so i took a black and beige perlon for the fun of it, some leather and some canvas will suit it very well. Your 6B looks marvelous, can't wait to get my plexi sorted!

Lovely 6B, on what looks like a Boettcher RAF leather pull through? You two with your exotic Smiths, I only have a lowly W10 '68, I enjoy to wear it though.

Ha, well spotted! I’ve got a few straps for the Smiths - and an AF0210 ordered. The leather Boettcher strap really works.

I think prices are creeping up for all of them - even “lowly” W10s are nudging £1,000 now - and way more from dealers...

I have the same RAF strap from David that I wear on an Omega WWW, great strap once it's broken in. The AF0210 is an incredibly comfy strap but I wear my Smiffs W10 on one of George's home made straps that he was selling on MWR which is also very comfy and a good colour with the dial.

That's a beautiful strap! Could you guys give me a few pointers on the best straps you have used with this watch aside from the repro one. Thanks!

It is always worth visiting David Boettcher's web site, called vintagewatchstraps I think. it's full of great information on watches and he makes period correct straps at reasonable prices.

Yes, David's site has some great pointers. He can do custom stitching but will only work in even mm width (my RAF leather pull through is 18mm).

I’ve recently bought a Land Rover canopy pull through from Steveo Straps. Not my photo but here it is on @workingtonwatches W10 on IG:

I have 17mm NATOs from eBay (designed for Smiths W10s):

An expanding bracelet (contemporary to the watch, but which I never wear):

Finally, I sourced a couple of NOS RAF nylon pull-throughs from Revo on MWR:

Black Perlon works really well, too - and you’ve already gone down that route.

Enjoy!

Aquariusmatic thanks for the additional images. You have absolutely smashed it, its a beauty.
Original strap choice looks great based of the tone its done to if you like pearlon straps.
Personally I rotate between a light sandy leather kangeroo, many different coloured pearlons, and old issues nato (blues and blacks) and Revo's reproductions strap from mwr.

Thank you! I'm having a great time with perlon straps currently but will look into the said MWR re-issue of the original strap and get me some vintage leather nato and zulu options.
For a vintage piece with a design i would usually not pick up in first go It's a strap eater and quite the piece, very happy with how it's turning out.
Ordered the ATC316 plexi for it and will do a light polywatch polish later today on the original. Just so i can better enjoy the piece. Thanks!
