Spotted in an antique shop today. If I had more time to play with it I think I’d find that the button at 6:00 would pop open the cover so the time could be “read”. Apx 33mm, a very nice looking watch

Always thought these were cool. A few companies made then. Would be fun to wear just because it’s so interesting to look at

Stevie wonder wore one. If you go on YouTube and watch ' scent of a woman awkward dinner' there is a funny quote about this watch.

What a wonderful thing. I had no idea these existed, although I suppose that betrays a lack of imagination.

One of my students, who was blind, wore a braile watch like this regularly. It really makes lume a non-issue. It would be great in a movie theater.

It occurred to me that a braille watch would be perfect for a scout sniper or other special operations troops.
Modern night vision equipment would pick up the reflection of the glow of a luminous dial as if a flashlight were shining on the subjects face.
I was testing a night vision monocular a couple of years ago and in near total darkness my cat's eyes looked like headlights on a car.
Also one need not take his eyes off his objective to look at the watch.

It would take quite a bit of practice to get accuracy inside a couple of minutes without a dial redesign.

So on the weekend I went to that antique shop again, and they made me an offer I couldn’t refuse on that braille watch 👍 Happy to have it in my collection. It’s quite nice, with a brushed case, polished bezel and drilled lug holes. The 15 jewel English movement is super clean and running strong.

I’m thinking it will look great on a bund strap (like the too-large one it is shown with below). What do you think, black leather or maybe cognac?

Hey, there is no lume on the hands to match those giant pips! 😉

These are cool watches, aside of the obvious coolness of the purpose they once served.
I vote cognac bund if you want to pad it up.

True story, I did cup the watch in my hands to see if there was any lume glow ::facepalm1::
