Sounds like the movie "The Town"!

Two getaway vehicles, the second of which they completely burnt out...

I like their audacity and taste in getaway vehicles. I think they've seen too many movies. Glad no one was hurt.

Raises an interesting legal question – and it would vary from country to country – but if you make people believe you have a gun in the commission of a robbery, does it carry the same penalty as if you actually had a gun? I'm assuming it does not, ...and if criminals thought this far ahead it might be some incentive to fake it. More so in Europe, where almost no one else is going to be armed.

In the US at least in every case I've heard implying a gun has the same penalty, but it might vary state to state.

Depends in Germany. If you have something that looks like a real gun, but you actually can't harm anyone with it, let's say a toy gun or a softair. You'r going to get the same treatment as if you where using a real gun. For robbery with a gun that would be at least 3 years in prison if found guilty. If it's actually not a replica gun or real looking let's say a watergun, it falls into a different category, and you won't get 3 years, because there is no danger coming from a watergun. Mind you if you now realize as a robber that everyone Realized you don't actually have a gun, but you still want the watches and you start whacking the people over the head with the water gun, than it's going to be categorized as a robbery with "any other dangerous object" and you'r again facing 3 years or more.

If you use for example a Snickers Bar and press it against someone's back pretending to have a gun, that would be 1 year in prison if convicted. Because there is no inherited danger coming from the snickers bar and everyone could tell in an instant that it's not a gun when they see it. Also have fun whacking people over the head with a snickers bar.... they might get annoyed, but won't hand you over their 300k Pateks.

There is much much more complexity to it.

In Short... don't robb People ;)

I hope they will catch the guys!

Let us hope not. That would be trafficking in stolen merchandise...

I was just kidding. I'm all for a good steal but not of that sort.
