My old SM300 has laid in the cupboard untouched for over 10 years, and I thought I'd give it some love.

All I've done is had the case cleaned (didn't get the movement serviced) and fitted a new genuine signed Omega crystal, as well as a Nato style strap.

While the bezel is showing its age, the dial, hands and movement look pretty good to me compared to many I've seen.

Certainly some scratches on the lugs, but the case back also looks good as well.

Quite happy with the result, and would love to hear other members appraisals both in general and as to what this would be worth on todays market.

It is certainly looking good and well worth keeping as it will only appreciate. A good service would be advisable after 10 years of inactivity. As to value, hard to tell as they keep going up. I got a lovely one in Oz for $9K Aud (2017 ) which in hindsight was a bargain so bearing this in mind yours should be worth at least that number. I recently saw one at a dealer site for $11500 US.
I think they look the part on shark mesh, the one in the pic is not polished.
I enclose a pic for your comparison. 20170902_102132.jpg

Good Lord, Man! It's a sacrilege to keep a beauty like that shut away in a drawer! Wear it proudly or just loan to me! I'll walk her every day, feed and water, take to vet!

Very nice piece and please service it before use unless your intent is to sell as is.

The crystsl does not seem to be sitting right, with gaps seen in those pics?

No, the light or reflection in that last pic makes it seem all warped.

It's an even gap all round, but whichever way you turn it the gap looks bigger on the furthest side.

It looks exactly the same as the other one posted when looking straight at it, it's fine.

    Wow....that much!??

I'm not sure mine's worth 9k, but it is an honest example and I'm happy with it.

Maybe the one's you are describing came with the original shark mesh bracelet or were Royal Navy examples.

But yes, I'm sure it's a good investment all the way.

    Cheers

Watch needs a service clearly - already can see that the rotor pinion is worn, and the rotor is scraping on the case back.

    Cheers, Al

As I'm 95% sure I'm keeping it, I'll probably take it back to him and get it fully serviced.

I changed my mind about my original instruction to just clean the case and change the crystal, but when I rang him to tell him he'd already done the job.

Lovely original example, amazing what a new crystal does.
10 years of lying in a drawer... wow
