Agreed. Many fake vintage Rolex cases also seem scary good.

Yep. I'll get made whole on this no problem, but no way I'm touching one of these again. Not worth the hassle.
I wouldn't go that far. If you buy from a reputable collector or vintage watch dealer, you're almost guaranteed to be safe. If you've handeled and studied even a couple of these, the fakes become very easy to spot. These fake builds and kits are usually enticing because they are priced much cheaper (not always) than the resonable market price/value of the same watch. Many seem to ignore this red flag when it comes to Seamaster 300s, but don't seem to ignore the same flags when it is a Rolex or any other high end watch.
