I recently got one. A grail of sorts.I had the quartz version - it was my first Omega bought new with some winnings at a casino back in 1986. Always wanted the auto version and finally snared this one. A super example and its getting a lot of wrist time. Anyway,,,,someone once said Gerald Genta had a hand in the design of these. Does anyone know if that is true and how much love is there out there for these. I know the integrated bracelet makes them a little less flexible but personally I love the size, dial layout, bezel, hands and legiblity. Its a vintage sub on a very low budget!
Now you have got me checking it! It looks like a Rolex Sub second hand. Hmmm indeed. I never spotted it as it is exactly the right length. How odd. I have it going to my watchmaker for a basic service anyway so maybe I get him to source a correct one. Actually now you have me wondering if all the hands are replacements....oh the joys of this forum! Anyway I love it and will wear it when driving my 1986 Merc 560SL which I just finished restoring. Perfect period piece.
A brief aside... Are those modded Ray Bans? (Another of my too many interests....) Not to ignore that delightful watch! Nor to miss one of my favorite Merc's....
Bans bought from Saks 5th store recently in sale at crazy low price....RB2132F. Awaiting fitting of my prescription lenses as I am blind as a bat....
Then they are current era by Luxxotica and a new treatment I hadn't seen before. Me? I prefer Bausch & Lomb era Ray Bans, although I do have 3 pair of Luxxotica current production. (Ray Ban collecting also involves the need to identify fakes among other pleasures.)
