Sleeping with watches

Hi there community, just a quick question - I was wondering how many of you actually sleep with your watches on, and if not, why?

I personally do sleep with my watch on, in particular if they have a good lume.

Cheers,

S.

I’m just here for the sex with watches jokes.

I’m just here to watch the sex, joke.

I do sleep in my 300 Diver, loosen the micro adjuster so my circulation continues and my hand does not drop off overnight.

I do not; purely a personal comfort preference.

However, when traveling and staying in a hotel, I sometimes wear it for irrational fear of an evacuation event.

Does it save you sitting on your hand until it goes numb?

Evacuation event? What the hell do you guys do in bed?

(sorry, those two were just too good to let slip by)

I think the better question would be "if you do sleep with a watch on, why?" Other than the dread fear of evacuation 😉 (cue Star Trek red alert sound effect) I can't think of a good reason for wearing a watch to sleep. Even my most comfortable watches would make sleeping at least a little less comfortable. And who needs that?

OP, are you here to gather some testimonials from watch sleepers to prove to your wife that "a lot of people wear their watches to bed"? You just keep on pushing that boulder up a slope and see how it turns out.

Other than the dread fear of evacuation 😉

I used to travel to places with frequent earthquakes (Chile, Alaska, etc.), which established the behavior

Just this week, in NYC, a fire alarm required me to evacuate my hotel room - albeit during the day

In any event, over the years a few times I’ve had to leave a hotel room in a hurry, and would rather not leave $20,000 abandoned on the dresser

In 2015 I was in the 8.4 Illapel earthquake (in Chile), which for the following many hours had frequent aftershocks above 7.0 … I was evacuating the hotel every few hours for an entire night.

That was my honeymoon 😗

Evacuation event? What the hell do you guys do in bed?

😉

I keep my watch on a leather valet near my bed within easy reach so I can look at the time in the middle of the night if I want. Wearing it while sleeping is too uncomfortable.

Not me, just not comfortable for some reason so it's off and on the bedside locker as soon as I retire for the night. Also gives me a good reason to change what I'm going to wear next day as I don't have one on when I get up.😀

Always wear a watch in bed. Always wear a watch in the pool. Wear one playing beach volleyball. Hey, I have a heap of them, I always wear one.

Do a lot of On Call and 1-2am call outs, so have always worn a watch at night. ( always better saying “the arseholes rang at 3:17” and it matches the hours pay I’m claiming from 3:17 to 4:17…..)

The only time I don't wear a watch typically, is in the shower. So yes, I wear one when I sleep, mostly because I wake up frequently during the night (arthritis pains) and I want to know what time it is, and how much time I have left to sleep.

I've found that if it's within say 45 minutes of being time to get up, I'd rather just get up. If I fall back asleep and then get up 30 to 45 minutes later, it feels like I've been hit by a truck. It's also why I don't nap...I always feel worse after a nap...

Interesting, while I don't have any health issues (physical), I do suffer from substantial stress (due to work) and find myself waking up at night more often than I should. One of the main reasons I like to have my watch on me is exactly for those moments, to calm down and force myself back to sleep or wake up and deal with life 😁

I never wear a watch in bed. The cable box shows the time and if I wake up and want to know the time I'll open an eye and check the time.

I slept with my FOIS on for a few weeks, I was out of town staying at my parents house and was up a few times through the night so knowing the time was helpful without having to check my phone. I tend not to sleep with it on in case I accidentally swing my arm and hit my wife with it. Nothing would start the day off wrong like waking up to a Speedmaster to the side of the head.

I found that sleeping with a watch on is a lot more comfortable if I put the watch face on my inner wrist.

I wear one at night. Lume is part of it, They seem to run more accurately for me if I wear them.
