Well, in terms of this thread, I would opt for a mini turtle- I love this watch!

But of course, only one that bears the mark of the beast is suitable for snorkeling.

looks beautiful on your wrist. What size is your wrist?

7.25. The short lug to lug is what makes it for me, otherwise it would have been too big for me.

I’m guessing the mid size wore to small for you as these square watches wear deceptively small.

I don't think the diameter as such was the problem, it was the bezel width and proportions of the hands etc. It looked slightly cartoony, like a caricature of a skx007.

I was in the market for my first Seiko diver that I wanted to use as a beater instead of my Speedmaster right around the time the 5KX were being talked about and the SKX was still relatively affordable. While I was going back and forth on whether to get the 007 or the 013 and blue or black, they stopped the production and the prices skyrocketed. A few months later I bought the new 5KX in blue (the dial is superb in my opinion, it looks even better in the sunlight), and find it lovely. I also quite enjoy the hacking as it lets me adjust the time on the watch quickly after a few weeks by just pulling it out for a bit... and since I dont dive with it, not having to unscrew the crown works just fine for me... nice and easy.

Oh and I bought the 5KX on sale at Macy's and it was very very affordable, even at that time. I would imagine even better deals can be found now that the watch has been out for some time.

I appreciate all the comments in this thread. Honestly by this time I was thinking I would have a Seiko diver and would post pic here of what I got. But I’m still debating between the skx013 and a 5KX. Neither is a ton of money but I bought two omegas this year, so I’m already over my watch buying budget for this year and next. So I want to make a smart purchase and get a good deal.

I love the skx013 - the history, the classic dial, and the size on my 6.5 inch wrist. But the prices just don’t make sense to me. New from Asia or decent used from US are typically 500+.

OTOH new 5KX can be found gray market for under 200. I just prefer smaller watches. Just my personal preference.

I think eventually Seiko will make a 5KX in the 013 size (37-38mm case). I will likely wait for that.

Thanks again for all who commented in this thread. Yesterday I got a 5KX. I love the color I got, the fit is great, and I got a great price on it. Only had it on the wrist for one day but would definitely recommend the 5KX.
