From 1930's 33mm to 2018's 43mm, watch size keep getting bigger and bigger. What's your favorite watch Size? And why? I will start, for me 36mm to 40mm are within my comfortable range. Anything above are just too bulky and not comfortable.
Being partial to dress watches, I feel that 34-37mm look fine on my 7 1/2 inch wrist, avatar Seamaster aside. IMHO, huge watches look cheap because I associate them with Invicta monstrosities.
it really depends on the dial opening IMHO. Nevertheless I realize that 39 for a dress watch is just fine. 42 for a dive watch
Yes, bigger is better. Now, stare into my eyes and repeat after me: Size matters. I must only buy large watches. Size matters. I must only buy large watches.... (I don't need any more competition for 31mm dials )
35-42mm is what I like. I don't get the guys saying they can't wear old vintage watches. I'm 6'6" and have 7 1/2" wrists and the old dress watches look just fine.
Anything from 36 to 42 generally. My exception is the sky dweller, which while 42mm wears huge on me. By comparison the speedy does not. My fave would be 38mm
For me it all depends on the style and age of the timepiece. Last night I was wearing a 33mm JLC from 1947. Today I've got a 42mm Seamaster GMT on the wrist. Those are pretty much the extremes in my collection and I wouldn't go any bigger/smaller. My wrist size is pretty average at around 17cm.
My ideal is 36mm, but 38mm is usually perfect as well. Have other watches that are larger, but nothing bigger than 40mm. 40mm is the limit, but lug to lug has to be below 48mm.
I have 7 3/4in (197mm) wrist and ~40mm is my comfortable spot but I wear anything from 36mm to 42mm. Smaller than a 36 looks odd and larger than 42 feels clunky...generally speaking. There are always exceptions.
My 3 main watches are 38, 42, and 45.5mm. I think 42mm is my ideal size, although I don’t mind going a bit bigger or smaller. I enjoy the feeling of wearing a substantial watch on my wrist. However, my 45.5mm PO is as large as I’d go, as I feel it wears a bit smaller than its size.
