Very rugged, well built watches. Funny, i was just watching a YT vid on the newish (smaller/ thinner) U50. That may be something to consider for anyone wanting something from Sinn that is a bit more svelte yet capable.

Picked up a Sinn U1 DS just this week.

The dial reminds me of Grand Seiko in a form or another.

Love the dial on this, very tempted (although I also like the blue dialed version).

I had a 656 as my daily for about 8 years. I think bead blast is not a great finish for a tool watch and i actually had mine brushed when serviced. If the bead blasted finish gets scratched up (as it does), it needs to be polished and re-blasted. And scuffs on bead blast don’t look that great IMHO. I scuff the crap out of brushed / polished watches (Rolex, Tudor, yema, etc.) and it doesn’t bother me as much. I always wanted a tegemented 856, but not sure if those cases are really that tough.

That's awesome. I was really tempted by this one, but I already hit my watch allowance for the year, I think.

I love the watch nerd joke at the heart of the design: the outside parts that usually get scratched are unscratchable, and the inside parts come pre-scuffed!

856 :

Not that common in real life: if I look at the serial and the time since it was introduced, it is a production of about 1000/year?

I had a U1 a few years ago and after a couple of years just found it too big for comfort. Just picked up a U50-T SDR, which wears comfortably so far. This one's on an Erika's.

Germans make nice watches. I have a Sinn 104. I usually dislike watches this large (41mm) but a 104 fits my wrist well. I like to wear it while hiking.

I’ve been tempted to buy a Sinn but haven’t yet pulled the trigger. I like both the 103 &104.

Nice watches... I had one a while back and still miss it to this day. My friend knows he has a buyer for whenever he wishes to sell. (He has said never 🙁)

Long long wait - but worth it ! …just arrived in time to play in the snow. U50 MOP…. Grabbed the black silicone strap too .. but going w tegimented H link for its maiden day. I get the MOP might be polarizing for some - the teutonic austere Sinn going off the rails?? … but the dial emitting the Northern Lights effect is stunning in the live. …nice Sinn design note with the bezel numerals and indices in a gray-blue shade.

I recently acquired a U50-T SDR but wasn’t satisfied, not really sure why since it fit great. Just traded for a T2b, initial impression is positive (really wanted to try a blue-dialed watch) although I know this one is not for everyone.

Wow y’all! These last two posts, really great looking watches! If it’s not too much to ask, and if it’s not too weird, would y’all post lume shots to show what they look like lit up?

How's the thickness and weight on the 556? I often wear a Tudor BB41 as my 'everyday' watch, but it's a big, hefty thing. I've been starting to eye a 556 B as an alternative, and am curious to hear how others feel about their 556's.

The 556 is slim, at just over 11mm. It is a bit heavy on bracelet, considering the thinness and 38.5mm size. Mine is about 141g sized for a 7" wrist, or around 154g with all the links, so it's somewhere in between the weight of a modern Rolex GMT and Sub. IIRC, the watch head alone weighs 65g, so the beefy bracelet adds some weight.

I've spent a decade in this hobby buying and selling so many watches looking for "the one," from inexpensive Timefactors to Rolex and Omegas, and this silly little Sinn 556i may have killed the hobby for me. It doesn't have any of Sinn's fancy tech, but it's just a great all-around, do anything watch, which has always been my goal. I've been wearing it a couple of years without issue. I kinda look at it like the Rolex Explorer back before Rolex was primarily jewelry.

I finally got my U50 MOP after an 8 month wait. Now the 6th slot in my Sinn box is filled.

Nice Sinn collection! I still really regret not grabbing the U1 DS when it came out.

Nice! How did the 203 felt on the wrist? Not too heavy / thick?
