The Sinn 903 bridges the gap between tool watch and sport watch. An affordable, and likely better execution on the Navitimer design that will give you much more bang for your buck (the new Navitimer is priced at well over $8k on a strap). Many collectors mistakenly believe the 903 to be a copy or homage of the Navitimer, but in fact when Breitling filed for bankruptcy in 1979, Helmut Sinn was able to purchase from Breitling the rights to the design of both the 806 and 809 Navitimer. Sinn then enhanced the design and created their 903 model. This specific model with the black dial is seldom offered for sale. Sinn 903 St Automatic Navigation Chronograph with uncommon black dial cased in special grade 316L stainless steel. Original Sinn Fine Link Bracelet. Overall condition of this watch is excellent. Case is in excellent condition and is virtually free from any marks, scratches, or scrapes. The only Blemish is a small dent on the 2 o’clock lug underneath on the corner and a small micro marks on the side of the case which can only be seen in select lighting if you look really close. Beautifully finished case with both polished and satin surfaces like new from the factory. Beveled lugs provide some additional flair. I will say the only downfall of this piece is the desk diving marks on the bracelet from a previous owner, which can be polished very inexpensively. Watch has original Sinn signed screw-down crown and is waterproof to 100 meters. Gorgeous and uncommon Sinn black on black dial prepared via the manufactures extremely intensive process that takes more than 30 steps from start to finish, including state of the art solar grinding, diamond milling, and electrolytic plating. Every dial is then hand dyed to ensure the proper finish. The result is both one of the most UV resistant and durable dials on the market. The superluminova on the dial is in great shape and glows brightly. Original sapphire crystal is in excellent condition with no damage or scratches and with no flaws to the AR coating as well. Watch features a second crown at the 10 o'clock position that is used to adjust the integrated logarithmic slide rule. This is a much better implementation than that of the original Navitimer design with a bezel that made it much more difficult to make quick and fine adjustments. The watch functions include hour, minute, and small seconds, as well as center seconds recorder, 60 minute subdial, 12 hour subdial, quickset date at 4 o'clock position (where one gripe with the older Navitimer is it had no date), and integrated slide rule. This watch was built with the reliable and sought after Valjoux 7750 movements (compared with the later Selitta SW500). This is the high grade version used by manufactures such as Omega, Breitling, Panerai, IWC and others. This grade movement features rhodium plating, full perlage and Geneva stripes, blued screws, nivarox 1 hairspring, and glucydur balance. The movement is in excellent condition, chronograph functions as it should and resets properly to zero. Watch was recently serviced and runs spot on. No time loss or gain.
