Since when did present day UG start providing repair services for vintage watches?

So I recently came across a listing of a 881101/2 Clapton with what seems to be service papers indicating a full watch service performed by UG in 2023.

What's most interesting about the work done (and I've tried to highlight this in the image below) is the replacement of parts with what seems (to me) a mix of period-correct and incorrect equivalents (e.g the date hands on these should be red, not silver but the minute chrono sub-register hands, also replaced, are the right blue)

Quotes from the service receipt state:

New date and minute counter hands at best

"At best"? What does that mean? They have a drawer full of NOS parts?

It's worth noticing that the service document is on official UG letterhead (and I understand this same letterhead is also used on the "extract from the archives" which doesn't hold much value or credibility with collectors considering they don't have much of an archive to scour through).

What do the others make of this and has anyone come across something equivalent to this before?

I would interpret that as "best match from what we have now".

UG really does not exist. The breakup of the actual company was disorderly, with records and parts dispersed to certain individuals in EU. What remains is an Asian company that owns the brand and that’s it. I can’t imagine why one would send a watch to them.

Universal Geneve’s website does state they provide service, though I’m inclined to believe they are providing that for, and are better suited towards, their new offerings

Knowing their history, and as explained above, I’m both surprised and baffled that someone chose them to send this reference, let alone spend 2,550CHF, for their service.

However, here are more images of watch. No movement image is supplied

That is correct - Dreamwatch in Germany sent this watch to UG to get it serviced hence the papers are addressed to them.

I also think the insert might be aftermarket. It looks too pristine.

doesn't the included paperwork (both pieces) seem to indicate a Geneva location ?

is that a hallmark on the left (corrector) side? if so case is in pretty strong condition and might suggest the bezel insert could be original
