Wow, I’ve been away from the forum for a while and I’m stunned to see all this….
indeed he used to be a name everyone recommended in the UK.
Indeed the platinum standard. Members here in the states were using him.

Then I messaged posing as a new customer with a watch needing a service and I received a response within an hour...

That's really annoying...

All, a joyful update - reunited, at last:

I got my 101-3-6-9 back Wednesday by Fedex, a bit later than the initially planned mid-january - but I'm not going to complain about an extra month at this stage.

Simon was kind enough to include a handwritten apologies note in the package.

Case closed for me - I hope Simon and Freese Watches can rebuild their reputation fully in the best possible way.

For those of you still having some gear over there - there is still hope 😀

The older they get. The slower they get. Add a watch company into the mix and now an added problem to keep n eye on

Had issues as well with him a while back, Ed White had to go back two times until it was right. Can highly recommend Christian at Watchguy. Proper documentation of work with pictures and good turnaround times.
I can agree watchguy is good , Simon freese is a waste of time and money . I have doubts freese does any thing to the watch .

If you’re going ti disparage someone’s reputation on a public forum, it’s probably best to give specific examples of your experience, not just conjecture.

Similar MO to his post on the other thread; a disjointed, vague and anecdotal offering masquerading as personal experience.

TBH, this is very much what rubs me the wrong way here. The original post by frank reads as a 'pile on', not an experience/story. Just saying "yeah, what he said!" didn't add anything to the conversation.

That said, the response was perhaps harsh, though he also responded to that poorly, so...

Your correct , my experience of him is from a recent service , communication very poor , not replying, then suddenly the invoice arrives which I paid immediately, the watch still took many many weeks to return after several calls and emails ,got through to his admin person a few times who sounded helpful .No pictorial evidence of repair which I had paid for , no new light marks on case back indicating work having been carried out . Had this watch 30+ years , been back to Omega twice no issues , tried this watchmaker due to his reputation and the fact he quotes half the price of Omega . I have used his services , I don't have that feel good factor with it ,so will not use again. Oh and the same sticky pusher it went in with . Yes had it before Omega replaced the return springs .

Initial brash delivery aside his post does line up with the experiences of many others and the current status of Simon Freese's reputation.

sorry for appearing brash , I have had a terrible experience from this guy , it might be an old watch but I like to think it gets the best maintainance, it will be going back to Omega next time .

A good watchmaker shouldn't leave any visible marks.
that should be true , but I'm my experience that's not always the case , but lack of pictorial evidence seals it , nice small pic of the writing on the inside of the case back might convince me .

The frustration is understandable. I personally take no offense.

Please ignore those who don't appear to be engaging in good faith. If things escalate the thread may get locked or deleted. That would a shame, it's an important topic.

Thanks for sharing the full scope of your experience in the follow up post.

I don't know which thread you're reading, but there are no Simom Freese fanboys here lol, just seemingly also no Frank fanboys.
